4th of July 2007

"Is this really patriotic?" I was asked.

So I then explained Scuttles thoughts on the matter. Which I am sure was more that was bargained for when the question was asked.

Yesterday My Family and I went exploring not really playing- "Where does that road go?"- cause we had a plan. Well soft of . We wanted to get out of the house go somewhere in Virginia we hadn't been before. We packed a lunch and hit the road.

We explored and fell in love with a another part of Virginia. We got to enjoy the freedom of being able to be with our family. We celebrated the 400th birthday of Virginia in our own way. Being explorers just like those from the first landing. Although we didn't get home in time to see the fireworks this year. We sang songs in the truck and fought over which radio station we should listen to. What could be more American than that.

Hope you had fun too!

Drum Point Lighthouse

During My In Laws stay my Hubby wanted to surprise his Mom. He had been planing this surprise since we moved here. The plan was to take them to a Lighthouse and a Crab Shack. Little did we know that my Mother in Law had read and studied about this very same light house so it became a real treat!

After our day at the light house we then went to eat a a great Crab Shack. It was so much fun!

The National Archives

February was so busy I forgot to write. Now it is almost the end of March and I still haven't so I thought I would take a few moments and write a couple of blogs.

While My in laws where here my Mother in law and I went to the National Archives. We had so much fun that later in the week My Hubby and his Parents went back.

I got to hold in my hand papers that my Great Grandfather Sanford Clement signed and touched when he enlisted into the Army back in 1876.

My Mother in Law on the other hand found so much that she ended up ordering most of it.

It was really neat to see and learn from these papers. I know that mine taught me a lot of my Grandfather. I look forward to going back and finding more on my family.
